Veterinary Services Chatham Wallaceburg Dresden

Laboratory Diagnostics

Our staff performs a majority of blood testing and urine testing right in the clinic. Any testing that is done in the clinic can be performed in a very short period of time and can get the results while you wait.

Microchipping

Millions of dogs and cats become lost or missing each year and tragically few are reunited with their owners. Identification other than a collar or tag(can fall off or get lost) is beneficial.

Technology has made it possible for us to administer a small chip size of a grain of rice) under the skin of patients which links the pet to you. The

microchip company will have all of your information to ensure that if your pet is found that they can be returned to you.

All veterinary clinics and animal shelters are equipped with an electronic device that will read the microchip number, the chip company can be contacted and your information will be available.

Dental Consultation, X-ray & Surgery

Dental care is seldom recognized, yet a necessary part of caring for your pet. Over-looking your pets dental care can lead to the more serious health problems such as heart, lung, and kidney disease. Periodontal disease can be prevented and treated.

No other procedure performed on small animals is of more benefit to your pet than a dental cleaning. Prior to dental cleaning plaque and tartar form on teeth and under gums and bacteria collect and multiply.

This creates a state of poor dental hygiene that causes foul odour in the mouth and is cause for concern. Eventually gum disease will develop. A proper diet is an essential part of your pet’s oral health.

Putting your pet on a proper dental food is the key to maintaining their oral hygiene.

For your pet’s safety and comfort, dental cleaning requires anesthesia. Pre-anesthetic blood test and IV fluids are recommended.

Dental X-Ray

When it comes to protecting your pet’s oral health, dental x-rays are one of the most vital tools in veterinary dentistry and for making an accurate diagnosis. Two thirds of cats and dogs teeth are located under the gums and consequently are not visible during a routine examination. This is why dental x-rays are so important, because they allow a quick and accurate assessment of your pet’s oral health. Without dental x-rays it is virtually impossible to find many of the oral problems that need attention. Our veterinarians also use dental x-rays to look for other problems in the mouth, such as oral tumors, jaw fractures, tooth root abscesses and more.Dental x-rays are essential for successful early detection and treatment for oral health.
If you have ever had an agonizing tooth ache, sore gums or sensitivity to hot/cold, you would appreciate your own dentist’s professional care. Your pet also has the same issues, however they cannot tell you they are in pain. Some common signs of oral health problems are bad breath, difficulty

eating hard food, weight loss, drooling excessively, licking lips, inflamed gums, lethargy due to lack of energy and painfulness. If you suspect your pet may have any oral problems than contact us for an appointment and the veterinarians can explain all of your options to you in detail. The sooner you act on your suspicions, the sooner your pet will be able to get back to feeling normal again.

We offer a state of the art digital radiography machine making it quick and easy to address and diagnose your pet’s needs. We also frequently consult with board certified radiologists through IDEXX when necessary.
